Rental Car Center and SkyTrain
In December 2009, the Department of Aviation opened its new Rental Car Center.
The Rental Car Center consists of an electric-powered automated people mover system
(known as the SkyTrain) that links the rental car center to additional Airport
parking and the Airport terminal building. The SkyTrain also serves the Gateway,
a center located between the Rental Car Center and the Airport consisting of the
Georgia International Convention Center, the Atlanta Airport Marriot, and
Springhill Suites.
Use of the SkyTrain replaces diesel-powered shuttle buses, and results in
reduced traffic on area roadways, reduced emissions created from transferring
cars between on-Airport and off-Airport sites, and convenient transportation
to the Gateway.
