H.03.08.031 APM Power Distribution System Equipment Upgrades
The project will upgrade the power distribution system for the automated people
mover (APM) system between the terminal and the concourses, which has been in service
since 1979 and is overdue for long-term maintenance and repairs. The upgrades will
include new electronic breakers; new relays and current overprotection devices;
new interface logic with Ethernet capability; new current and potential transformers;
new monitoring equipment; and new isolation-disconnect switches for sections of
the power rail. Design will begin in July 2010. Construction will begin in July
2011.
H.03.08.041 APM Tunnel Structural Repairs
The Automated Ground Transportation (AGT) System is an automated people mover (APM)
system that was put in service in 1979 to provide quick and convenient movement
for passengers between concourses at the Airport. While regular maintenance and
minor repairs have continued throughout the life of the AGT System, the tunnel in
which the APM operates is due for long-term repair of cracking that has occurred
in tunnel walls and ceiling, and spalling of concrete in a number of locations.
Design-Build construction will begin in September 2010.
H.03.08.042 APM Guideway Structural Repairs
The project will repair structural supports for APM guide rail that have deteriorated
over time. Grout pads have cracked or are missing concrete, exposing guide rail
mounting bolts to corrosion, and reducing stability of mounting points. The system
was originally installed in 1979, and is overdue for long-term maintenance and repair.
Design-Build construction will begin in September 2010.
H.03.08.051 APM Communications System Replacement
The project will replace existing analog Operational Radio System, which provides
vehicle communication interface (automatic train control data and voice), and communications
between Central Control operators and maintenance technicians working in tunnels
or passengers on board trains. The new system will include digital base station,
control room and vehicle transmitters/receivers, and digital interface equipment,
as well as radio handsets, battery chargers and miscellaneous equipment. Design
will begin in July 2010. Construction will begin in March 2011.
H.02.10.101 Taxiways SC & SJ Extensions
Project extends Taxiway SC/SJ north through the middle airfield from Taxiway R to
Taxiway L. The length of these taxiways is approximately 1,800 feet. The purpose
of these taxiways is to provide a more direct crossing location for aircraft traveling
to and from the CPTC to Runway 10/28.
