Gallery T North

Gallery T North is comprised of 120 feet of cases located along the north corridor of the T gates. This exciting exhibition space is the second largest in the Airport and allows the Art Program to present large-scale rotating shows. Exhibits are changed annually and scheduled several years in advance.

2010 Exhibition
“From the Collection of Tellus Science Museum”

Thanks to a broad selection from the Tellus Science Museum, the Airport Art Program presents an exhibit that transports viewers into the fascinating worlds of natural history, earth sciences and transportation. While waiting for their flight, passengers can explore some of nature’s greatest treasures as well as some of humanity’s most artfully created machines. Everything from colorful geodes and minerals that create everyday products to a selection of vintage motors provides an exploration into science and wonder.

Located just 30 miles north of Atlanta in Cartersville, Tellus has four main galleries. The Weinman Mineral Gallery features the best mineral collection in the Southeast with gems, gold, meteorites, and crystals from Georgia and the world. The Fossil Gallery has exhibits on dinosaurs, giant reptiles and ice age mammals from the region and beyond. Science in Motion is a journey through the development of motorized transportation and includes a replica of the Wright Flyer, vintage cars, a Bell 47 helicopter and a replica of an Apollo capsule. The Collins Family Big Backyard offers hands-on science activities for children of all ages.

Other venues include an all-digital Planetarium with a variety of shows running continuously; Gem Panning and Fossil Dig areas; and the Great Hall, dominated by an 82 foot-long Apatosaurus skeleton. On the museum grounds are exhibits of mining machinery, boulder-sized mineral and rock specimens, a solar array, an earth station, and a solar house that competed in the 2007 Solar Decathlon.

“From the Collection of Tellus” is located on the north side of Concourse T in the Gallery T North display cases. The exhibit is presented by the Airport Art Program in partnership with the Tellus Science Museum in northwest Georgia. Please visit http://tellusmuseum.org/ for more information about the museum.
