Automated People Mover (APM)
Hartsfield-Jackson’s Automated People Mover (APM), a tram located inside the Airport,
transports passengers safely and efficiently between Terminals North and South and
to the six concourses where travelers board/exit aircraft.
No element of the Airport’s design better illustrates Hartsfield-Jackson’s commitment
to smooth passenger flow than the one-mile (1.6 kilometer) underground mall that
connects the terminal and concourses. Travelers can choose to walk, ride a
moving sidewalk or board the innovative transit system. Its vehicles are automatically
guided into and through concourse stations at 110-second intervals, taking passengers
to the farthest concourse in less than five minutes - all at no cost to the rider.
The Airport's APM is the busiest among over 30 airport APMs worldwide in terms of passengers transported.
The APM routinely transports more than 200,000 passengers daily and has accommodated more than 70 million in 2008.
