Duty-free stores court customers
Have you ever traveled domestically and looked with envy at the international travelers buying makeup, perfume and designer accessories in the Airport duty-free stores?
Well, envy no more. If you are traveling domestically through Hartsfield-Jackson, you still can finish up your shopping list at one of the Airport’s four duty-free locations.
“It’s a misconception that duty-free stores are only for international travelers,” said Demetria Wideman, concessions marketing manager. “With the exception of alcohol and tobacco products, all of the merchandise in the duty-free stores is available for anyone to purchase. Domestic travelers can shop in the stores for the luxury and beauty items.”
With two large new duty-free stores on Concourse F and better quality and variety in the items at the previous duty-free shops on concourses T and E, managers of the duty-free stores are encouraging domestic travelers to check out their wares.
Through the stores’ duty-paid program, passengers traveling domestically can shop at the store without the usual restriction of needing an international plane ticket.
“We’ve moved aggressively to offer a wide variety of goods to the domestic traveler,” said Jay Richardson, managing partner for Duty Free Americas.
These items include luxury brands such as Coach, DKNY, Mont Blanc and Emporio Armani as well as an entire line of beauty products from Lancôme.
The Airport’s duty-free stores are in the transitions hall at the international terminal, at the Concourse E centerpoint and near gate T5.
